Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder (OCD)

OCD is a disorder in which a person has uncontrollable, reoccurring thoughts or images (obsessions) and feels the urge to perform repetitive behaviors or mental acts (compulsions) in response to them. The rituals provide only temporary relief and can be very time-consuming, interfering with daily life.

Key Symptoms:

Obsessions:
Fear of contamination, fear of harm, unwanted taboo thoughts (sex, religion, aggression), and need for symmetry/order.

Compulsions:
Excessive washing/cleaning, checking locks or appliances repeatedly, counting, ordering items in a specific way, and demanding reassurance.
